Size Updates?

Hi everyone,

I noticed in the last few posts people mentioned how big their dog currently is. As Jade is a puppy, her weight is ever changing and I thought it would be fun and informative for everyone to post their dog's stats. Here are Jade's:

English Mastiff mom, Labrador/Rottweiler dad

Unspayed female (for now)

16 weeks

39 lbs.

Jade at 12 weeks

Rocco will be 2 years in October. He is now about 96-100 lbs. Vet says he should be as close to 90 as possible, so we've been dieting him a little.

For large dogs, my vet told me the leaner they are, the better for their joints because they can be prone to joint problems. And extra weight (just like for humans who have knee issues) make things worse.

So hopefully, we can get Rocco down to about 95 lbs.

Togo also will be two in October. He is huge, he weighs 125 lbs, but according to his vet - he is just about perfect. The breeder we got Togo from predicted that he will be about 125 lbs, and she was right on the money.

Togo has been on the large breed puppy and now adult food that has stuff to help grow strong hips and joints. Every little thing helps I guess.

We just came back from out 2.5 mile walk so Togo is downstairs enjoying his bowl of ice cubes.

Buford is 7 months and 70 lbs. He has not started to fill out yet so he is just tall, long and very lean. He has never been a big eater and until recently I could never get him to finish his food.

I think he will end up being about Rocco's size but who knows, maybe he'll surprise me with another spurt and get as big as Togo.

We have Jade's sister. Saka is now seven months and between 75 an 80 pounds. The vet said she would max out at 70. It was a bad guess.

She is simply the best dog I have ever owned. The chewing is a bit much but she only destroys things in the yard. We tried to put everything up, but there is no up that is up enough.

On her hind legs her head comes up to my shoulder and I'm 6 foot.

She is great with the kid and our Beagle. Great temperment, very obedient and eager to please.

This is a great breed.

Do you have any pictures of Saka, I'd love to see the comparison! I've got Jade pegged at 6.5 months, since her birthday is the 26th, which just makes the size of these pups even more amazing! Jade was 82 lbs and 25 inches at the shoulder this weekend. She's growing 2-3 lbs per week still, and eating 7 cups of food per day. Her only bad habit is digging holes in the backyard. She doesn't try to dig out of the yard, just small random holes all over the place! Fortunately I'm not a gardener, so it's not too bothersome for me. Much like Saka, she's easy to train, gets along well with my other dog, and so far she loves everyone she meets. When I first got Jade my estimate was 80-90 lbs full grown. Obviously that's not going to happen. :-) So now I'm guessing 110-120 full grown, especially since these dogs grow for 2-3 years and don't even begin to fill out in muscle until they are about 1 year. Looks like I'm going to need a bigger doggie door, lol!

Size update:
Jade's growth has slowed substantially in the past few weeks. As you can see above, she was 82 lbs at 6.5 months. She just turned 8 months last week, and is about 93 lbs. Still a huge puppy, of course! But she is now gaining only one lb a week. I still expect her to reach 110-120 lbs full grown, but only time will tell!

I'd love to hear from Saka's family, if there are still on here!

hi there, ive just gotten a mastador, same mix as your jade.
mine has lab x rotti mom, and english mastiff dad.
she has marking similiar to jades. i will post pics in the near future.
what is jades activity level like. i am wondering how active i can expect her to be, more like lab or more like mastiff. she is only 6 weeks old right now and not doin too much, likes to nap lots.
she will be going to the vet in the next week for her shots, and am excited to see her weight, if she is anything like your jade im guessing she will be a very large puppy.

When Jade was 6 weeks, she was napping half the time and playing half the time, with the occassional meal thrown in! The breeder said that Jade was about 10 lbs. at 5 weeks, and I next weighed her at 8 weeks and she was 16 lbs. Hopefully you can compare those numbers with your pup to see if they will be a similar size, although it's hard to be sure until they are older.

Jade loves to play fetch, and to run around the yard with me and my other dog. She can run for about an hour at the dog park, but then she's tired and ready for a 2-3 hour nap. As long as she gets a 30-45 min. walk and about an hour of play time with me, she's happy. Oh, Jade's a digger, so keep an eye on your girl!

I adopted Justice and Hope a year ago now. They are brother and sister mastadors. Justice is currently 108 lbs, and still growing. Hope was about 87 lbs three weeks ago, and she is still growing as well. I hop0e they both get to be close to two hundred pounds in all honesty. They are wonderful puppies, and they are both so intelligent too.

I have a 5 1/2 month old mastidor named Duke. Im guessing he was the runt. He only weighed 8lbs at 8 weeks. he now weighs 45lbs. His momma was a 160lb mastiff. Dad was a 70lb black lab. He is the sweetest dog ever.

I have a 18 month old female lab mastiff mix named Lucy. she is only 48-50 pounds. She didn't get proper nutrition as a puppy due to undiagnosed EPI and is small. Best dog ever! Gentle friendly and funny for sure.

I have a seven month old female Mastador pup named Camille. She just got weighed at the vets today. She weighed in at 102 lbs. Vet said she is healthy and filling out real well. Not over weight and very gentle. I feed her Iams dog food. She eats 5 cups in the morning and 5 cups in the evening. Her father is a 150 lb Mastiff and her mother is an 80 lb lab. I love her very much!

Hello. I am adopting a lab mastiff mix. She is a year old.I have cats and a 11 year old lab rotty mix. It has been a long time since u have had a puppy. Little nervous but was wondering when puppies stop growing? I am trying to judge how larger she will get. Do they require lots of exercise. I walk my current dog eveylrt morning before work for 45 minutes and then a long hike on the weekend. Is this sufficient for this breed as well? Thanks in advance.

I have a female mastador names Cope/Copey (Copenhagen) as my husband picked, we got her at 6 weeks she was tiny, she is now 8 weeks has gotten taller, and gained maybe a pound, haven't weighed her hoping she gets to be huge. Her mom was a mastiff and dad a lab. Wanting to know how fast it took for everyone's puppies to get taller?

Hi all,
We are in nz :) and rescued a mastador pup. His name is Kuta and we think approx 15wks, he weighed in a 7kg (sorry not sure in lbs). We are wondering how big he will get, we are hoping very big but wondering if he will from this first weigh in.
Are they slow growers?
Also, any recommendation regarding food to would be awesome, we aren't 100% sure to following dry food guidelines or give more to boost some growth.
Any advice would be awesome!!

Camille, my female Mastador turned 2 in October and is my service dog for PTSD. I got her bc I am a veteran and PTSD due to domestic violence. At 2, Camille weighs in at 136.5 lbs on her vet visit last month. She eats 4 cups of dog food a day (4 Health-grain free) and roughly goes through 2 gallons of water a day. She is a blessing to both myself and husband who is also a Vietnam Veteran.

Camilles father is an English mastiff and her mother a Labrador. She looks like a black lab but took her daddy's size and has his jowls too. She also has the deep mastiff bark.

Hello. I have a mastador named Caleb. The vet seemed happy with his growth, but I'm afraid he isn't growing enough. He is fed so much human food that he barely eats his own food. I tell my family to stop but they don't listen. He is 1 year and 2 months old and is exactly 80 pounds. I don't know if this is our fault, or if he's just a slow grower, or if he is simply the runt of the litter. Any opinions?
