Mastador Group at Facebook

Hi everyone, I have created a Mastador group at Facebook which may be easier for members to post their pictures and stories. I have invited lots of you to join through Facebooks group invite. If I have missed anyone please send a request from Facebook. Although I have a personal Facebook account, I actually set one up for Jake (the Dog) to keep privacy. If you like, you should do the same. Just make sure you list your pets year of birth to 1990 so it clears the age requirement. It would be a blast to see all the fiends pictures as dogs! Lets have fun with this. Thanks for all your help, Mark, Jakes owner.

Hi Bill & Maureen! Welcome! Mastadors can range in size, depending on the type of mastiff they are mixed with and how much mastiff, what their parents were like, etc. When our mastador was 4 months old, he was about 40 lbs. He is now fully grown and about 100 lbs. Some mastadors are 120 lbs or more. Check with your vet to make sure your dog isn't too overweight. Since he's a puppy, he should be fine now. Because they are large breed dogs, my vet told me to make sure he stays a bit under weight so there is less stress on the knees. Large dogs tend to have knee issues when they are older. Hope that helps!

remember, puppies chew so that they can have stronger teeth.you shoudn't be mean to them because they are still trying to learn how to behave!!!!
If you have an older dog then the puppy, the puppy trys to do what the older dog does. I work at a humane society and we adopt out puppies, that have been dumped out on the side of the road or left at the shelter to be killed!!! sometimes we rescue pups that have been beat,we recently rescued four pups and one has a broken leg because it got ran over!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DOG OR PUPPY YOU CAN GO ON OUR WEBSITE AND ADOPT ONE!!!!

the website is www.ourfurryfriends.petfinder.com or you can E-mail at pupsandpuddles@yahoo.com

Hi i have a mastador that came from a rescue centre, she had been abused and starved...her name is Jazz and is about 2 years old, i have had her a year and is now settleing down, she loves human company and is sociable with other dogs, left on her own for to long and she will chew my mats..jazz is not so much a barker but anyone comming near the house gets a taste of her size. jazz is very large and tends to frighten people with her size and loud bark, but she's a real sweetie really, loves the car and would rather go anywhere with you than be left on her own, and i wouldnt be without her !!

Hi, My husband and I just got a puppy from our local Humane Society and all we know is that he was listed as a Labrador mix. He is at least 50% Lab as he is visually a definite lab with two major exceptions. He has a beautiful soft brindle coat and a completely black/purple tongue. He is 12 weeks and weighs 17.6 pounds, gaining about 2#s per week. He is much smaller than the other Mastadors shown, but I have eliminated all the other breeds that might have contributed to him. He has a very deep robust bark for only 12 weeks, loves loves loves! people and my mini schnauzer, he snores, and sprawls out like he has no bones. Could he be a mastador??

I see a lot people on here have males Mastadors. Does anyone have a female? We have a puppy, Bailey, who is now 5 weeks old. I was trying to get an idea of how big she will be. Her mom (black lab) was around 60lbs, her dad (bull mastiff) is 185lbs (HUGE!).

My husband and I recently discovered that our 2 1/2 year old black lab mix is actually a Mastador. We never knew what he was mixed with. He was listed as a lab mix at the shelter that we got him from. His name is Ace and he's the best dog either of us have ever had. We've recently noticed that when he plays with the neighbors dog too much he starts to limp. He can hardly put any pressure on his back leg. Is there anything we can do for him? He's not overweight or anything. I've heard of giving bigger dogs cortisone shots. Is this an option we have and does it help? We hate to see him like this being so young still. We would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I have a alpha male black lab, white German shephard, bullastiff, he is currently 15 months weighing in at a solid 120lbs standing on his hind legs at about 5'4-5'5ft I am 5'9. They are incredibly strong, at 7 months my dog was stronger than me, very muscular and definition. In reply to your choco lab mastiff, he will get big fast, they need a lot and a lot of water, but they chew a lot and everything they can get into, full of energy non stop Haha. The most amazing family dog I have ever in countered, I have brought him around 9 month olds to 8yr olds and has never miss behaved I always let him know to be nice or give kisses, he is amazing when kids play with him pull his ears smack him a lil you know what kids do and he just sits there and let's them, but they get very protective. If u socialize him a lot he will be a friendly dog, but like my dog he witnessed another dog "a huskie" he was living with, tried to bite me and indica my dog tried to take him out, I sed no stop and indica stopped instantly, I have alwayed trained my dog with my voice and not a leash, altho ghagra incident he is still very friendly loves to play and meet pep, they are generally quite until they see something that they think is threatening or jus don't vibe. I have noticed ghagra my dog individually picks people to bark at. They can learn very many tricks and can catch frisbees I recommend you get him to try catching a stuffed animal first that is how I taught my dog. They love to rough house and when I say rough house I mean hard wrestling. They are very very smart and understand a lot. I have taught my dog several tricks including how to open handled doors. They are lap dogs as well, well think that they are but don't realize there size. They have very distinctive barks, playful, something they don't like or is threatning and Howell and groqn, and very vicious bark and Howell and groan. They love to be by your side most of the time. I would say this is my favorite breed of all breeds. You will have one amazing dog.

It really depends on what that actual back cross it is, and what kind of lab and which particular mastif. My alpha male black lab white German shephard bull mastif is only 15 months weighing at 120lbs and standing around 5'4.ft. his dad was predominantly black lab with 25-50% white German shephard and his mom was 100% bull mastif. My dog, indica, is still growing well wider his height is done but now he is putting on more muscle, he is all solid muscle and very very defined with jet black hair and a white spot on his chest looks identical to scooby-doo. I say he will be between 130-160lbs when he's 2. So just find out roughly what your dog is mixed with and do research on those breeds and you can get a rough estimate judging from his characteristics as he beta older you know what I'm saying. But at 4-5 months indica was between 40-60lbs I can't remember exactly.

Hi everyone :) I just want to share a lil about my Mastador...She was given to me as a lil baby.My husband brought her home when she was 4 weeks. The careless owner was going to take her and her litter mates to the pound. But anyhow my baby didn't go to the pound she's here in a very comphy home.At 10 months she is 92 lbs looks more like a lab with brindle.Beautiful big baby. She rarely barks but will definitely let me no when some one is around.Loves lil dogs. She has Alot of puppy in her but she is very laid back. We're still working on her strength she is very strong..Does anyone have any tips on her pulling us to a running point while on her leash..lol...I would have more if I could afford it.She loves to eat...
