Lab or mastiff?

Which breed does your dog tend to act like more? I have done a lot of research and they all say pretty much the same thing that with the mix of breeds you can get characteristics of either breed and that you might even get the worst of both?....what do you think about it?

I cant complain, I have the best of both. On the Mastiff side, Jake has a square head. Sometimes people make comments on that. They also comment on his good looks, he loves to sleep, and has minimal drooling. On the Lab side, he looks for birds. Will spend time looking up at birds in flight. Loves to fetch, and lives for the water. Just wish he would listen when I call him. We're 70% there now. I believe it will be 100% if I spend the time.

Luckily with lab and mastiff breeds, there isn't very much "bad" in either.

Like a mastiff, Rocco's energy level isn't super-high. He's got lab in him, so he'll run a bit, but he's not very fast (dogs at the dog park always out run him). After about 10 min. of play he's done and wants to lay down and relax.

Labs and mastiffs are bred to be loyal and generally neither breed is really aggressive.

The one thing to be careful about is to make sure you train your mastador early. Because they can grow to be big and are very strong, you don't want to be playing tug of war on walks when they are older.

Since labs are bred to please, and mastiffs are ususally gentle-mannered, training should be easy with mastadors.

Also, they sometimes don't know how big and heavy they are, so they might seem a little klutzy at times. Rocco still thinks he's a lap dog!

I have 2 of them. Brother and sister, Ramon and Camila. Both are territorial, good with kids (they love kids and being around them), they are always looking for birds ( i love when they look up and follow them around), minimal drooling, love to sleep, and they do have good looks because people always say that to me, too. They are also very loving.Ramon hates water but Cami loves it. And Ramon doesn´t get along with other dogs, while Cami loves to play with every dog she sees, she`s always getting in troble because of that. My lab, the father, is very big, and camila and Ramon. specially Ramon, are really big and strong. Both are really stubborn but they do respond to me. You just have to train them. they learn and they seem to like it. They need attention and they will ask for it. For me they have the best of both breeds. If you like big dogs with looots of personality and you have the time and paciencie to teach them and play with them (because they do like to play) get one! Oh, they also sleep in funny ways. And Ramon is a sleepwalker.
I love them!

A year ago I got a mastador and he's an amazing dog. Although he has grown to 130 pounds in one year and is very strong, he's a gentle giant. Loves kids, other dogs, water, tug, and attention. He has a wonderful personality, and is a perfect mix of energy from a lab and laziness from a mastiff. I recommend a mastador for a family who intends to be involved with their dog often.
